Was It Right for the Dolphins to Cut Chad Johnson?

Was It Right for the Dolphins to Cut Chad Johnson?

As we all know by now, Chad Johnson got into an alleged altercation with his wife Evelyn Lozada which resulted in Chad being arrested for domestic violence. I did an article a while back http://forrealsportsfans.com/?p=28 explaining how Chad Johnson needs to focus on his game and leave the outside distractions alone. Now Johnson may not get the chance to focus on Football because he was cut from the Dolphins on Sunday.

I first would like to state that I like Chad Johnson as a personality and as a football player. If what was alleged is true, there is no excuse for that. Instead of focusing on Chad Johnson’s personal life, let’s take a look at his professional life and if it was the right move to release Chad Johnson from the Miami Dolphins? Any domestic violence act especially towards a female is nothing to play with. No one really knows what happened between the two except for Johnson and Lozada. Even with that stance, I still feel that the Dolphins should have took some time to make a decision to have Chad on the team instead of cutting him right away. For the sake of the team, it sends a message that you won’t have the players back when they need the organization the most. Dolphins LB Carlos Dansby stated: “I hate that we didn’t stand behind him, I know the guys in the locker room would. But the organization felt a totally different way about the situation, and they probably had more information than we know. And they had to do what they had to do.”

I’m not saying that they should have kept him on the team per se but I am saying that the decision was more of Coach Philbin panicking under the pressure instead of giving Johnson due process. The Dolphins could have let the courts decide the future of Chad Johnson. Unless Johnson told the team that he in fact head butted his wife, they should have waited until the facts came in. Remember, Chad Johnson’s wife is the same person that is on the reality show Basketball Wives where she is seen getting into fights with cast members, jumping on tables to fight, and using profane language very often. Her credibility would be questioned. Maybe the Dolphins jumped to the conclusion that Johnson is guilty and cut him before it came to light.

Even though the Dolphins may have been premature in cutting Chad Johnson, being away from Football maybe the best thing for Chad. This is the reality check of a lifetime. Chad Johnson spent so much time these last few years wanting so much attention on him that Football was secondary. Now he has all the attention in the world but the kind that no one wants. If Chad Johnson career ended today, he would be looked at as a clown, a joke, and someone that may have hit his wife. The man that everyone called Ochocinco needs to find himself in this very painful moment in his life. Forget social media and being the class clown, Johnson needs to pay attention to himself instead of wanting some attention from others.

i don’t think it was right or legal for them to cut him like that hell the falcons waited till vick was dam near on the prison bus before he got fired. I mean let’s be real if a player refuse to play because of a jersey number, or he don’t like the coach or QB he’ll get fined or his contract terminated but chad and the team is under contract and untill he’s proven guilty then what ever happen to team support? Marshawn lynch like ran some people over on the strip and the bills still supported him what is these teams thinking about but i bet later on down the line when the dolphins suck they’re gonna bring him back or try anyway i would sue them.
